speed matters


i use a dialup internet connection(via telephone line).could anyone plz tell me which is better or faster to connect net.i mean is microsoft windows faster or linux(may be REDHAT) faster?faster in the sence downloading,webpage......or will it remain the same for both OS.becoz windows get's me some unwanted stew.

I concurr. Your bottleneck is your connection not your OS. If you had an OC3 connection all to yourself (thousands/month cost) then Linux would outperform any flavor of windoze by a significant amount -- if you spend time to tune it just right --, but really only for serving "stuff", not so much for downloading "stuff". Either way you'd need a connection orders of magnitued better than yours before you'd see a significant difference.
