"SpeakIt" for fedora... [?]

a friend helped me install the "Opera" broswer on my new 64-bit fedora using yum install and ftp. however, as with my recent firefox post, there is no sound when i try to watch any PBS show. =still= , the use of yum install with ftp made me wonder if this is how i can install the text-to-speech app that installs automatically on google-chrome. if possible, i'd like to stick with one browser. so if there are any centOS or fedora folks out there who use Speakit {or any other TTS application}
i would be very much obliged for some insights!

tia, guys.

What are the contents of the directory /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins? (Opera will read the contents of /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins to check for plugins.)

that's just the thing: none of the flash plugins work. i have installed the libflash*.* binary several times; i've checked and double-checked. According to the fedora packaging system, everything is installed. but no audio. i get audio on youtube. i get audio [on pbs.org] with google-chrome. just not with ff -- and now the same with opera.
