spamassassin and blacklist/whitelist

hi,

I have a qmailserver running configured via the qmailrocks.org howto. The only thing I changed in the setup is using simscan instead of qmailscanner for better performance and additional spamsettings as in http://opensourceheaven.net/?page_id=98#comment-3730

The last thing I would like to implement is a black- and whitelist.

I checked the spamassassin website but there're all talking about ~/.spamassassin/user_prefs file which is located in the users home dir. Because I use vpopmail and users are virtual (no entry in /etc/passwd), I can't set this setting.

I also tried to add an entry in my local.cf, but that didn't work either.
blacklist_from *@hotmail.com

So I'm a bit stuck now in my last 'to-do list'.

Any help is appreciated.

I know of two websites which offer custom spamassassin rulesets, which will take care of most spam:
http://wiki.apache.org/spamassassin/CustomRulesets
http://www.rulesemporium.com/

Then edit file /etc/mail/spamassassin/v310.pre, and enable this:
Quote:
# WhitelistSubject - Whitelist/Blacklist certain subject regular expressions
#
loadplugin Mail::SpamAssassin::Plugin::WhiteListSubject
by removing the leading # from the second line.

Thanks for the reply.

I already have some custom rulesets. (See below)
qmail2:/etc/mail/spamassassin # dir
total 6690
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 416 Apr 27 10:31 .
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 80 Apr 23 14:40 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 56238 Jun 2 2005 99_FVGT_Tripwire.cf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 22546 Jun 25 2005 backhair.cf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 109810 Jun 22 2005 bogus-virus-warnings.cf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 23422 Jun 25 2005 chickenpox.cf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 561 Nov 20 18:17 csma.cf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 935 Sep 9 2005 init.pre
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1213 Apr 27 10:31 local.cf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 449 Apr 23 16:48 local.cf.old
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2172 Jan 9 14:56 mime_validate.cf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4883 May 25 2004 random.current.cf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 6597455 Apr 21 08:58 sa-blacklist.current.uri.cf
qmail2:/etc/mail/spamassassin #

As you can see, I don't have a v310.pre file. Can I also enable this in local.cf?
Or can I simply vi whitelist.cf and blacklist.cf and add an entry in local.cf to the path of those 2 files?
