Can you post the contents of your /etc/apt/sources.list file. What is the name of the package that you're trying to install? If you're trying to install spotify then you need to follow the directions on this link.

sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/spotify.list
apt-get update
start over:

echo deb stable non-free | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/spotify.list
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install spotify-client
