Sound working but not working in Redhat 9.0
Hey all, first time posting.
I have a question. I just setup Redhat 9.0 on my system. I have an Asus A7N8X Deluxe and I'm using the onboard sound. I did the sound card detection and it detected it fine and played the test sounds perfect. But when I try to play a cd, no sound comes out. I tried looking in the sound options but all the volumes seem right, and if the test sound played fine I figured the cd should play fine also. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Mike |
Are you sure you have an audio cable connected from your cdrom to your motherboard?

More importantly, do you have the RIGHT cable conected from the cd-rom to the soundcard? I had the same problem until I figured out that I should've used the analog cable instead of the digital one.

ah hah! Thank you. I forgot all about that. Another quick question, if I were to rip the songs from the cd, would I need to hook up that cable?
