Sound With One user. not the other KDE

This is a strange one,
I had sound lastnight with the user I always log in under. This morning no sound after re-boot. I loged in as a different user and there was sound. I am running MDK 10 and KDE 3.2

I didnt make any changes to the sound configuration for this user but all of a sudden no sound.

Any Suggestions?

EDIT I can play MP3 and MPG files and hear sound. It seems to not play WAV files. The system notification sounds dont play (startup sound, error alert sounds. etc.)

Make sure the user is part of the audio group

do you think the group memberships would have changed? I did not change any user properties either. I also noticed that when loged in as the user in question, I can hear .mpg movies with audio and also if I log in as that user in GNOME I hear sounds. It appears that it has something to do with KDE. I am new to linux so I really dont know where to start looking for the possible problem.

OK, Things just seem to fix themselves sometimes.!.

All of a sudden the user that had no sound re-gained sound!

The funny thing is now it is playing more sounds than it did before..
