sound problems
 

I can hear sounds that the system makes, and sounds from Gaim, but when i go to a flash animated site, i get no sound.

Any Thoughts?

If I want to listen to the sound in a flash animation, I have to kill the arts daemon(?).

I am sure someone out there has a better solution though.:D

What distro are you using?

I have the same problem and I see no artsd in the list that top generates.

<- Distro -> Debian.

Just in case it makes a dfference, I use the Alsa driver. (but however I have checked the mixer - it's set OK).

I'll also be interested to hear a solution for this.

try chmod 666 /dev/dsp chmod 666 /dev/mi* as root

The chmod didnt seem to change anything. I can hear mp3s, system sounds, and Gaim sounds, but nothing form a browser.
