SOUND Problem (ALSA and RedHat)

Hello to Everyone in the forum,

I have installed drivers, library and the utils of alsa but after the compilation of everything I still don't get any sound.
At first my sound card was not detected but now it is being detected but no sound still.

I have a P4 2.4 GHz
D865GBF with AD1985 AC'97 codec
RedHat 9.0
ALSA version is 0.9.6

Help me with this with some tips and some commands how to check the soundcard config

I did this but there is no mixer in the available mixer list

but i read something in another post and did a lsmod check it gave me the the output containing the following info about snd

snd-intel8x0 23492 0 (autoclean) (unused)
snd-ac97-codec 50712 0 (autoclean) [snd-intel8x0]
snd-pcm 89984 0 (autoclean) [snd-intel8x0]
snd-timer 20772 0 (autoclean) [snd-pcm]
snd-page-alloc 10356 0 (autoclean) [snd-intel8x0 snd-pcm]
snd-mpu401-uart 5488 0 (autoclean) [snd-intel8x0]
snd-rawmidi 19488 0 (autoclean) [snd-mpu401-uart]
snd-seq-device 6336 0 (autoclean) [snd-rawmidi]
snd 45700 0 (autoclean) [snd-intel8x0 snd-ac97-codec snd-pcm snd-timer snd-mpu401-uart snd-rawmidi snd-seq-device]
soundcore 7044 0 (autoclean) [snd]

alsamixer showed me the mixers and i also have the sliders upto full in the volume control.

Did you make sure to save your settings in alsamixer after you turned the volume bars up?? Make sure you are plugging the speakers into the correct jacks on your computer, I plugged mine into the LFE jack and got no sound but when I plugged it into the Mic jack it works great.
