Sound problem.
 

Hello I am running RH 5.1 and would like to know how I would get my ESS SOLO sound card to work all I have found is the Sound blaster drivers under the "$ sndconfig" command the card is suposed to be sound blaster compatable but it wont work could somone shed some light on this?

How do you know it's not working, what is happening? What are you trying to test the sound?

RedHat 5.1 is so old I'm surprised the cd it came on is not mouldy, can you get your hands on a newer distro?

Yes I know it is old I have a Mandrake 8.2 cd coming but I have RH 5.1 on another Comp and the sound works like playing a music cd but on this one the sound card won't work the sndconfig program won't even test it but i figured I am getting a newer distro but I would be happy to know that I can get it to work any way.

You could try updating the sound drivers, but you might be better off waiting for mandrake to arrive.

You are probably right I should wait but I am one of them people that when you have a problem it eats at you for ever till you fix it so do you have any places that I can go to that I could upload some sound drivers?
