Sound Problem
 
I have ManDrake 10, and a AC'97 sound card. I have ALSA installed, but for some reason when linux plays a sound the volume will "up" a bit while the sound is playing, and it can also be scratchy (even though the volume is down is KMix).

Any clues to why this is happening?

Have you tried re-installing the soundcard again?

I tried de-activating it in the BIOS then booting up, then enabling it again. This seems to have worked (so far) I'l report back if it makes the problem again.
