Sound Not Working for Red Hat 8.0
 

Hi There,
Having problems getting the sound working on my machine.
I dual boot red hat 8.0 and windows XP

Sound works fine with XP but no sound with Red Hat 8.0.
Sound card is onbaord AC'97.

It seems to have picked it up in the sound settings but still no sound.Is there anywhere i can look for device conflicts of some sort?

try installing alsa, it works very well in redhat 8, i have via-8233 sound card

One of the solutions is install kernel 2.4.20 ...

run sndconfig to pick up the ac97

and then run aumix, and up your volume levels..

Voila !!

Sorted this problem by going to the following link

and running the rpm.
apparently mp3 format is not supported in redhat 8.0

Hi guys my audio too doesnt work, it is detecting the audio card to be intel i810_audio but it is not playing any sound and also when i run aumix it is saying error opening aumix??? how to sort this problem?
