sound editing

Are there any good sound editing software for linux, like Soundforge and Goldwave? Thanks :)

Closest thing to Goldwave (which is one of the few things for which I'm still going back to Windows) seems to be Audacity, which is included in most distros, or available from your normal repos.

You might want to check out Ardour as well.

Audacity

Have you tried Audacity, it's wouldn't be as mature as those yet, but it does cover a lot of it. Have you tried running those others under wine? I have a copy of Cool Edit that I purchased and have the serial number, but I lost the tool that applies the serial number and Adobe don't supply it any more I imagine that would run under wine if you're interested in looking for something to make it go.

Audacity is arguably the most popular one. I myself am yet to try it.

Ardour

I just looked at ardour because of the post above and it looks absolutely awesome. And it's all there in YAST for downloading automatically, so I'm going to try it in a sec.:D
