sound driver loading failure

Howdy,
I have recently upgraded to SUSE 9.0.
Since then my soundcard has ceased to work correctly... or indeed at all.
I have attempted to configure the soundcard with YAST2 but it always comes up with the same error:

The kernal module snd-cs46xx for sound support could not be loaded. This can be caused by incorrect modlue parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.

Any help anyone could give me would be highly appreciated.
Jim.

hi!
I have exactly the same sound card. I use Fedora Core though, but i guess it should all be similar.
Open a terminal window, and use the su command to gain root access (you'll need to enter your root passwd).

/sbin/modprobe cs46xx

this shouldn't spit out any errors
then try increasing the volume control (it may be muted).

this worked for me.

I tried the command. I got this back:

modprobe: Can't open dependencies file /lib/modules/2.4.21-226-smp4G/modules.dep (No such file or directory)

I'll try and figure out what I can. Any idea what I could do to remedy this?

I have sound again. I have some java problems, but I have sound. lol.
