Sound Configuration In RH9
 
I downloaded a Creative Labs|[SB Live! Value] EMU10k1X driver for linux,Installed it with no errors,I rebooted.I went to Main Menu ---> System Settings ----> Soundcard Detection. Still it says no soundcard detected.....but wait a second....I JUST INSTALLED IT!My sound still does not work.Please Help!!!

Hmm.. the sblive should be no trouble and automatically recognized and configured.

Do you have onboard sound and did you disable that in your bios?
Have you turned off kudzu? If so, try running that.

You could also install sndconfig and run that.

Normally like if I get a new mouse or something Kudzu runs on startup.How do I get to it or run it?And I have not messed with my bios.

If your mobo has integrated sound, it must be disabled in bios

I installed and ran SndConfig and got this message........


The Creative Labs|[SB Live! Value] EMU10k1X is not supported.

I also checked my bios and saw nothing to do with my sound.

Don't tell me it's a Dell, dude!

I have heard rumors that you have to buy a driver from OPEN SOUND SYSTEM to support that unless they have figured it out at the ALSA project.
