sound card not working on cd


sound is not working with cds. i installed a new sound card and when i did the test do you hear sound . i am using red hat 9.the sound card is sound blaster live 5.1.

Do you have the cable for analog CD audio installed? It's a thin cable that connects the CD directly to the soundcard.

I plugged the cable in but theres still no sound. It goes in the volume control socket right? If since i did the sound test and it works, but i cant play anything else, does that mean that the sound card is bad?
