In order to play sound on any sound application on GNOME, I must run alsaconf on every bootup.
When I attempt to play music on Rhythmbox, for instance, there is no sound output and the timer remains at 0:00 until I run alsaconf. When I restart, the sound applications continue to function improperly. In addition, I get the error message:
Quote:
Sound server informational message:
Error while initializing the sound driver:
device: default can't be opened for playback (Device or resource busy)
The sound server will continue, using the null output device.

even though the sound events function.
Running alsaconf on every startup gets tedious, of course. Any ideas on how to make it so that I don't have to run it again and again?
