sound and font problems after upgrading to kde3.2

ok, i just had a fresh install of slack 9.1, and upgraded to kde3.2... i downloaded everything and jsut did a upgradepkg *.tgz and saw that the last thing to install was quanta, and it got an error about tag11b library but when i restarted everything worked fine. (im assuming there were other errors that i couldnt read because of the konsole buffer) but now, when i log into anybody but root, i get this error.

Sound server informational message:
Error while initializing the sound driver:
device: default can't be opened for playback (Permission denied)
The sound server will continue, using the null output device.

and when konsole boots, it gives me an error about how it cant find a specific font. i was reading some other posts about this, and they were all saying they were using some sort of program to update kernel and getting the same problems... any help would be appreciated..

thanks

Check permissions for the /dev/dsp file
Mine is like this:
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root users 9 feb 3 19:54 /dev/dsp -> /dev/dsp0
This is the easiest way..
And remember to add the users to the "audio" group....
Then you at lest sjhould be covered. :)

Good luck
