Soniccstage
Hi there,
i'm running mepis 3.3.1 on a reasonably high spec pc, i have a sony network walkman nw-hd3 mps/atracplus3 player, to put songs on to the mp3 you need to use a software called sonicstage, is there anyway to get this program onto linux or another program that will put songs onto my mp3?? thanks |
You may not need to use that software, plug the device in, wait a few seconds and then run this command at a terminal:
Code:
tail /var/log/messages |
Well I have one of these players too. The problem is similar to that with iPods, to allow the device to search through songs by artist/genre etc there needs to be a database of all the songs, as for the device to go through all the ID3 tags would be too time/power consuming.
However, with the popularity of the iPod this database file has been figured out, allowing programs to write music to them. Problem is.. Sony's method seems more complicated and it is a less popular device so (as far as I know) there is no way to get music onto our Sony music players, without sonic stage. I may be wrong here, if you know better please correct me ;) (I would love to be able to take windows off that one box I still have it on, and copy music on via linux too!) |
Hmmm, you could try running the program under Wine or Crossover Office.
|
Wine reports that It cannot install for this version of windows (I have switched it to all the different versions of windows in the winecfg) and tried editing the config file the sonicstage installer makes too ;)
I don't have crossover office, so I'm not sure how to test.. If theres an evaluation version of crossover office I will give that a go later, and report back here. Hope theres some way this will work! |
Ok, I gave crossover office standard a shot. Still no luck. If anyones got any ideas they would be greatly appreciated!
