something for guitar players =P
 

is there something like guitar pro natively written for linux?

I wish there was some good software for a guitar player in Linux. I need both teaching software and sound effects software.

There is Kguitar,

ANd i found out, it is possible to make Gpro work with Winex, and Timidity...i havent done it myself....yet

I have been waiting for YEARS for a program like this!

I would LOVE to test it on Mac OS X!!!

(Though I am very inexperienced with compiling applications etc...)

EDIT: Nope, can't test it on windows... don't have access privleges to install java :p

Since the program is developed under JAVA there should be no need to RECOMPILE it. Just follow this steps

- Just UNZIP the program to any directory (DGuitar0.2)
- from that directory run a command like this "java -jar dist/DGuitar0.2.jar"

If you have any problems please let me know.

you need to change the path of the skins at start up. the program exits out while trying to load the default skin. the problem lies in the fact that the skins directory isn't where the program is looking for. you have the skins directory outside of the dist directory.

also, when packaging, it is nice if when you unzipped your package that all the files could be in its own directory by default instead of being strewn about everywhere in the current directory where the zip file is.

I just tested under Linux
 

I tested the application under a fresh environment were the program has never been run and I did not run into any problems.
