Some videos are strobe-y
My hard drive died and I had to reinstall Fedora. I'm on Fedora 25 with RPMFUSION repos. I am using an RX460 with the AMD Staging Kernel to get audio out of HDMI. Also have VDPAU libraries installed. When using Kodi to watch videos I've created of my DVDs, animation tends to be jerky - somewhat like a stroboscopic effect. It appears not to be an issue with Live Action videos.
I was curious if maybe I ended up with a version of x264 that doesn't support all the profiles or something? I'm open to any ideas for debugging to try and figure out what's going on. Thanks, |
Maybe it's a hardware compatibility issue?
http://kodi.wiki/view/Linux If your getting a stroboscopic effect with the application it could be a bug or a lib could be missing. Since x264 is for encoding video streams into the h.264 MPEG-4 AVC format I'd think it would be what you would need. Maybe it's not enough or perhaps you have an older version of it? http://www.videolan.org/developers/x264.html I ran Fedora for 4 years and never had a problem with VLC. It always worked:- Try another media player. -::-VLC pretty much works with everything-::- http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-fedora.html |
It resolved itself. SO far the only difference is now I'm in Wayland instead of X11. If it appears again, I'll try VLC and see what happens.

I think you'll be pleased with VLC. Let me know if you like it. |
