Some mtPaint images inserted into Abiword are blank

Using the Insert>Picture... function of Abiword, I've tried to import a number of pictures created in mtPaint. However, many times, instead of getting the picture in my document, I ended up with only an empty outline (the resizing controls that Abiword provides for all images). mtpaint.png is an example of an image that this happened to. Is the problem caused by mtPaint saving images incorrectly (though the GIMP is able to open them) or by Abiword (which hasn't had any trouble with the GIMP's images so far)?

P.S. How do I change the DPI settings in mtPaint?

There are hundreds of weird ways in which image loaders may be broken. The right thing to do is report the bug to Abiword developers, as no other PNG-capable software ever had the slightest difficulty in opening mtPaint-created PNGs (none that I know of, in any case).
I guess Abiword cannot handle indexed PNGs; to test this, convert your example to RGB and try to import the result into Abiword.

You don't. mtPaint is a drawing program and has no support whatsoever for anything printing-related; there are plenty of other tools for the purpose.

-= With best regards, Dmiry Groshev, maintainer of mtPaint =-

That had no effect... but then I expanded the RGB image to 528x528 and suddenly Abiword could display it. Then shrinking it back to 256x256 did not stop it from working. Finally I converted it back to indexed mode, and that now worked also. Hmmm... I then created an indexed image in the GIMP, and that failed to display, so it's probably right to blame Abiword for this weirdness.
