some characters overlap when Firefox print

Some web pages display and print preview correctly with Firefox on FC3 linux.
However, some characters overlap when the web pages are printed.
How to solve this problem?

I usually have the print preview smash all the text together and have the printout okay. One idea I have is to print to a pdf (cups-pdf )and then print that pdf.

I have not had any printing problems with Opera.
