Question solving rpm dependencies


how do i resolve rpm dependencies? if i have an application installed and i try to install an rpm which requires the prev application, it cannot identify it.

Hello.

yep, solving rpm dependencies can be quite a problem. that's why I switched from a redhat based distro to ubuntu which is debian based, where installing software is a breeze thanks to apt-get.

I'm not really suggesting that you should do the same but try reading this article. it just might help you, cause it sure did help me.

if you are sure you have the application installed then you can use --nodeps switch
like this: rpm -i --nodeps package.rpm
