Software recommendation


Hello!

Can anyone on this board recommend a free - perferablly open source media player for the GNOME Linux Desktop that can play regular windows media files (wma,asx) and connect up to a MMS Server??

mplayer.

Install the Win32 codecs for WMA etc and search for the MMS, I've seen solutions on this forum.

If you follow all the instructions you can find here, you MAY be able to play .wma files if they're not protected. Best bet, look in the Tutorial section for a HowTo on converting them to another format and then do the right thing. Never allow another piece of that trash on your computer again.

Totem (with the xine backend and win32 codecs) is also good and fits in nicely with GNOME 2.x because its built with GTK2.
