software programming tolls in Linux?

can anybody tell me which programming tools can i use to develope program in linux? windows we use vb or delphi, so how about linux?...

Kdevelop - C/C++
SDK - Java
Kylix - native port of Delphi
don't know what else there is,most programmers under linux probally just use a text editor like vim or jedit and a compiler,assembler,linker?
