For IM you can use gaim or aMSN

For a media player you could use mplayer, xine, xmms, amorak

Have a look at the member choics awards, that ought to give you an idea of the most popular software for different tasks

If you search google for those files I think you'll find that you need to install xorg-x11-libs, alsa-lib and lame.

If aMSN says that the tcl library is missing then it is most likely true.

Can you be a bit more specific?

You can get vmware from their website: http://www.vmware.com/

'Dis is da dude dat iz gonna come and put shit on u if u dnt writ PROPERLY! We have gathered a nice community of people who at least spell words correctly and most even use punctuation! Dat is that way it's done around here and most of us would appreciate it if you fell in line.

In answer to your last question, open a terminal and cd to where you downloaded the file then use this command to install it:
Code:
rpm -Uvh tcltk-version.rpm
You can find VMWare and the different versions available (plus prices) at www.vmware.com. RHEL should have a package manager, probably Yum. Use that to install software, it'll make your life a lot easier.

I think you could use yumex, which could help you install most of software and do not need you do something.
