Software for user managment / registration for small / medium business?

Hi

I am just looking for a solution for a small / medium business to manage users ... platform independent (also all are UNiXes).

In detail:
I am new to the organization and want to have access to one of the systems, so I am requesting an user (maybe with additional information for rights, groups and so on).
The request should be placed as email (whatever) by the administrator who is responsible for the office or the system and he should acknowledge the request.
This workflow should be archived, so that everyone could have a look who has acknowledged my user.

Additional feature are welcome

I prefer a web based interface but this is no must.

Any suggestions?

Regards, Dietmar

I call shell scripting.

Things you'll probably need are adduser, deluser, usermod, groupmod, emailing part can probably be made work with sendmail. Logging also shouldn't be a big problem with shellscripts. I'm sorry I can't give you the whole script, but I think scripting it in shell should be the most trivial solution.

Best of luck.

edit: and suid bits if you don't want to run as root all the time

Hi

I thought of shell scripting or something in perl to make it available via browser; an out-of-the-box solution would save me time, but I think, I have to write it on my own.

Thanks, Dietmar
