Software Distribution

Does anyone know of a Linux software distribution package either open source or commercial?

I would like to create a distribution package and then have a system deliver, report, and install the package on all my other Linux systems, along with pre-install and post-install capabilities.

Appreciate the suggestions.

I know that there are several commerical Linux installers - just check google. Also there is a recent article at Linux Format magazine on how to create RPM's
