Software Defined Radio For Linux

I'm trying to find SDR applications and literature for Linux. I am a complete newbie to the field. What are the most basic and useful apps; and can recommend me relevant tutorials?

BTW, gqrx installed; but would not launch in Fedora-24/Gnome-3.20. I believe this is a kde app. Maybe if I install k3b or Konqueror, the necessary dependencies might be sucked in?
