Snort install problems

Hi,

I tried to install snort 2.9.4.5 (latest version). I installed libdnet and daq (both latest version) with some trouble but both are correctly installed (IMO). When I run the snort configure script I always get the following error message:

ERROR! daq_static library not found, go get it from
http://www.snort.org/.

I used google to find some answers and I tried to insert the daq path in the PATH variable:

/usr/lib:/usr/lib/daq:/usr/local/texlive/2012/bin/i386-linux:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin

Then I read that snort configure script tries to run daq-modules-config. "which" gives me the following:

which daq-modules-config
/usr/bin/daq-modules-config

I installed daq with options --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc and nothing else.
I'm quite confused and I'm running out of ideas, what I'm doing wrong. Anyone here who can help me?

Edit: I'm running Slackware 13.37 64Bit

check the config.log file that ./configure made, should show what the test performed was for you to manually recreate.

I recognized some errors in config.log
Most errors are in confdefs.(h|c) like this:

I don't know what to do. This is the first time I got such an error. I've attached the config.log.
