SMTP proxy for spam filtering

Hi all,

I am trying to set up a smtp proxy server to filter spam in my small company network. I was thinking that mail could go through the smtp proxy, spam would be filtered out (I was thinking spam assasin), and then the clean mail would go through my Exchange 5.5 server.

Any ideas for smtp proxy software? Anyone have links to howtos that might help me out?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

you mean a kind software that can filter an email from outside before deliver it to your home user!
If yes, procmail is the answer (easier and reliable), you can try http://www.tldp.org and search for procmail.

One way to do this is to set up your system as:

Internet-------> smtp-proxy -----------> internal (RFC1918) server

You can use various DNSBLs to block spam, use SpamAssassian to tag it, etc.
