sme server kernel panic - not syncing : attempted to kill init!


yesterday i switched my hdd with sme server configured on it from a hp serer to a clone machine and on booting, i am getting this message
"kernel panic - not syncing : attempted to kill init!"
what the cause and how can i solve this?

also other messages b4 the kernel panic message include;

cdrom: openfailed
ERROR: /bin/lvm exited abnormally
Mount: error 6 mounting ext3
Mount: error 2 mounting none
switching to new root
switchroot: mount failed:22
umount /initrd/dev failed:2
Kernel panic - not syncing: attempted to kill init!
_

urgent help needed,
thanks in advance;

You are probably booting from different HDD device now. /dev/hda, /dev/hdb, /dev/hdc, ... and /dev/sda, /dev/sdb, /dev/sdc, ... are device names that are given to HDD and CD/DVD devices. When you changed motherboard, you might also changed chipset/hdd controller, and since /dev/... is different, Linux is not configured to boot properly.
