smbclient to japanese share

i can't connect to a japanese samba share. i use
Code:
smbclient //xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/下載
and i get
Code:
tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME
i know this is the correct share name because i used "smbclient -NL "on the server. i looked at the outgoing packets in wireshark and it's using a 1-byte encoding for the share name instead of 2-byte like the server uses. how can i get smbclient to use the unicode charset correctly and connect to the share?
