slow CD upgrade fc 2 -> fc3

Hi,

I am upgrading from fc2 -> fc3 using the 4 CD set. I am noticing that it's going very slowly (~4.5 hours so far, ~6 hours to go).

Is this because of the number of kernels I have accumulated? During updating, I have been taking on new kernels, and am offered them as options by grub when booting. Does each new package have to be installed for each kernel?

~8.5 hours! For a while there, I thought I was mistakenly installing gentoo!
