slideshow movie in kino or other gnome app?

Is there a functionality in Kino or another app, where you can add jpegs, text and audio apply some effects and make a kind of movie? It is quite simple in Windows Movie Maker. This was a recent need.

Distribution: Switched to regualr Ubuntu, because I don't like KDE4, at all. Looks like vista on crack.....

I'm sure there are others, but I've used this, and it worked well for me.
