slackware13.37 - 32 Bit Wicd rt2870 Dlink USB dongle DWA125 problem

I have already raised the Wicd part of my Qn in Salix forums, but since it is based on slack , thought would not hurt to post it here.

1. I have installed salix 13.37 x86_64 to one of my desktops as I found it a bit tedious to download the mega 4GB and odd DVD image of slack for 64 bits (already have 32 bit).. Wicd is installed by default and wireless is Dlink - DWA 125 which uses rt2870 driver.
The problem is Wicd always gives "Connection failed:Bad Password"..

I do not see how these issues you describe are in any way related to Slackware or an issue caused by Slackware. The Salix forum is where you should be.

Now, if you start again and install Slackware this time, then we can have a meaningful conversation.

In the meantime, try getting a connection without WICD, i.e. using the commandline tools Salix hopefully provides (iwconfig, wpa_supplicant, ifconfig) and see if those give better diagnostic messages.

Hi , I have installed Slackware 13.37 32 bits . This brings to me a new set of problems sadly.. As I am using my LCD TV (1366*768) 720p , 60 Hz horizsync I am not able to log into X at all..I have read some forum qns where some people are able to boot at least at 1024*768 , however for me it is all flickering horizontal lines with no readability whatsoever.

1.I tried to give "nomodeset" as an additional parameter , but that didnt help the case
2. I tried removing xf86-video-nouveau and xf86-video-nv , to see if Nvidia is giving the problem, but that was also a vain attempt
3. I tried copying /etc/X11/xorg.conf from another linux install to the corresponding slack directory , but that is also not working
4. I want to use the Xvesa driver but do not know how to
5. I have little exp in modifying xorg.conf by hand .

PS: Before reverting to Slackware,I tried the manual wpa_supplicant comands in Salix , but didnt work

Pl assist me in Step 1 , loading X before I get to check Wicd!

Pl find attached Xorg.0.log

For the video issues, install /extra/xf86-video-nouveau-blacklist with upgradepkg then install the proprietary driver and let it write a xorg.conf for you. If that doesn't work, disable compositing. Howto is in CHANGES_AND_HINTS.TXT

Thanksl ...Display issue is partly fixed I should say ...

I copied the xorg-vesa.conf as /etc/X11/xorg.conf and now I am able to login to a workable desktop though it needs proper configuration

Coming to the WiFi part , the behaviour is pretty much the same

Wicd --- Always gives "Connection Failed: Bad Password"

I did rmmod rt2800usb,rt2800lib,rt2x00ysb and rt 2x00lib as suggested in the forum and then modprobe rt2870sta , but still the access point does not seem to get associated ..

I also tried the WPA_gui , there the status is fluctuating , for 2 secs it is saying associated , then it goes back to scanning so on and so forth.

Dear Moderator , pl move my post back to slackware as it is a peculiar issue only in slackware. My post is getting lost amidst other distro problems! In slack forum experts like Alien Bob and Frank Bell immediately answer the queries!
