slackware OpenOffice not showing in menu

Hi, im running slackware 12.2 and i just installed the latest version of open office. setup went like butter, on the second step i installed the appropriate desktop integration tgz file by using the command (installpkg *.tgz) and it seemed to install but i still have no entries in the menu. so i tried it manually theres an install file inside the tgz (doinst.sh). still nothing.

then i copied the contents as is, then i noticed when i copied the opt folder over, in the opt folder openoffice had the wrong folder name "kde". in my opt folder its called kde3, so copied the folders over to the kde3 folder instead. still not working. right now ive manually added the link through the kde menu editor and its working fine but id like to get it working the other way.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

edit: i realized slackware uses the older KDE 3.5. perhaps the openoffice desktop integration was meant to work with the newer version of KDE?
