I recently installed slackware 9 on a (refurbished) computer which I recently purchased. When installing slackware it took upwards of 15min. to complete "scaning for slackware CD". Whenever I attempt to mount a CD it takes just as long. During this process I can not do anything with my computer (Intellistation Epro). The CD copies to the hard drive just fine. Slackware is the only OS I have been able to install (I cant get any other working installation CDs) and I am beginning to think this might be a problem with the CD drive. Is there anyway I can use slackware to test the functionality of the CD drive?
