Slackpkg and startx issue

I am currently running Slackware 10.1 on my computer, and i downloaded slackpkg to do updating. I ran the command 'slackpkg upgrade a' so that it would download everything that needed to be updated starting with a, but now as it stands, I go to run the command 'startx' and now, all I get is a black screen, and I try to go to my first terminal, or any of them for that matter, pressing control + alt + F1, through F6, and it doesn't seem to go to that screen, because it just sits there... what can I do to fix this problem? Thanks

Well first of all, find out all the packages it installed or upgraded and what mirror did you use? Remember, when you do an upgrade, it can reinstall the same packages, you could have installed older packages or packages that depend on others from some of the other groups.. I do know there are some glibc packages in a and also a few more glibc packages in l... perhaps you need to update more than just the a packages.
