Skype refuses to access webcam
Mint user here, trying to use Skype, but while every other piece of software that I have tried can without any configuration at all use my webcam Skype outright refuses to even detect it, let alone light it up, as in it never even lights up the camera active light.
what is causing this? Also, is there a way to see Skype chat history that took place on an android device? From Android I can see the history from the desktop version. |

Skype History? Hell Yea! Skyperious and/or http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopi...erious#p908954 for some tips on how it gets installed and running. |
What is the make/model of the webcam?
You could try this: Start Skype from the command line and attempt to access the webcam. Perhaps some useful error messages will appear in the terminal. |
and I forgot, can the cheese program see it?
You may have to install cheese: Code:
sudo apt-get install cheese && cheese |
Yes, Cheese and everything else can see it, just not Skype.
It's HP branded and I forget the actual model but LSUSB returns it as Quote:

Did you try rm -fr ~/.Skype ?

After deleting the .Skype folder it does the exact same thing.

Mint 17.2 Mate edition, 64 bit, fully up to date, Skype 4.3.0.37.
Microsoft terribleness? |
Well, I don't know about that.
Did it work in 17.1 or 17? How was it installed? and from what source, please. |
Didn't try it with that, 17.2 is based on the last Ubuntu LTS.

I'm done asking questions.
Nothing personal. Good Luck. |
