Skype deleted by system upgrade, now a big hassle!

Hi Guys-

I upgraded from Wheezy to Jessie today, and noticed it deleted skype. Hmm. I rarely use it, but when I do it's to connect with family members who use skype (on microsoft computers).

The Debian wiki page gives instructions, https://wiki.debian.org/skype, but then says "If apt-get is not able to install libqtwebkit4:i386 as dependency, try with aptitude (If you know what are you doing)"

Well, I _don't_ know anything about using aptitude, or editing deb packages or control files. So that wiki page leaves me kinda hangin'...

Of course, when I tried to install skype I do get the problem with libqtwebkit4:i386. When I try to install that I get:

Code:
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  skype:i386
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-0:i386 libgstreamer0.10-0:i386 liborc-0.4-0:i386 libqtwebkit4:i38
Looks like a run-around that I don't have the skills to fix. Can someone give me the steps to get skype working on my now "testing" version, or maybe you can talk to me about using some other program to talk to skype users? The wiki page says maybe I should be using ekiga , linphone or jitsi. I have no idea whether those or any other program can connect with skype users.

Thanks,
Keith Ostertag

Ekiga is a good alternative to skype but since skype is a propriety software and does use a proprietary protocol other alternative programs can't interact with it.

About skype:
Few things to know about skype
What Richard Stallman can say about skype?
What is going on: Spy state shock: Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Facebook, Skype, AOL, Apple all secretly sharing private user communications with NSA

Cheers

Skype is a proprietary "closed source" product of Microsoft, so call their 800 number and ask for help. Be sure to mention you are installing it on a Testing distro that is scheduled for 2015 release.

Thanks guys. Yea, I'm not a fan of skype or any m$ products. I'm not willing to call m$ or even, at this point, make an effort to make it work, so out it goes. We will look at alternatives. Thanks.

Keith
