Single MX records for multiple domains in a mail server?

Hello everyone,
I have a simple question. Its been a while I've been reading about setting up a mail server. I have a doubt. Can a mail server host multiple domains like 3 or 4 public ip's. If yes, How many MX records are required? One MX record for all the domains is configurable? Please suggest. thanks.

There's no relation between the number of domains and the number of mail servers serving those domains. Also, IP addresses have little to do with either.

The MX record for a domain can point to any A record. You just have to configure the Mail Transfer Agent (MTA) on the server behind that A record to handle mail for the domain in question.
