Since when did the 3.10 kernel get extended support?

I remember around September 2015 the 3.10 kernel was set to reach EOL somewhere around that month but when I check now it shows October 2017 as the next EOL. That is very interesting, how often does this happen?

I remember reading something like this but the thing was that it was set to be EOL last September of 2015. Now it is 201u and someone else is working on the support. It happened out of the blue, pretty cool as my Slackware 14.1 uses the 3.10 kernel.

As long as there is a competent maintainer willing to maintain a kernel then EOL can get pushed out.
