Welcome to LQ.

I did see your posting this morning at `nabble'
http://network-simulator-ns-2.7690.n...2-td27698.html

Not much help you can get with Cygwin :
The suggestion is to set up a genuine Linux OS.
You can do that in Windows© , inside a virtual machine,
e.g. VirtualBox. Or install Linux on a spare partition.

LTE : The available LTE patch is for ns-2.33
( You can have as many versions of ns2 as you want,
installed at the same time. But do not add any text to .bashrc ).

$ svn checkout http://lte-model.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ lte-model-read-only

# 3 .

1) Ns2 is for a 32bits OS.
2) The safe choice is a long term supported OS.
2a) CentOS 6.4 is supported until '30 Nov 2020'
.. and comes with a usable compiler : compat-gcc-34-c++.

LTE

Thank you for the links you've send .
i'm allready downloading the CentOS.

But i wanted to ask regarding the framework which i'll simulate. It consists of four entities (Client, Merchant, GSM, and a Mobile Phone), where the mobile phone will capture a QR code from the client's browser, and perform some calculations such as Decryption, Hashing, etc. and it will finally send the result to the merchant.

my questions are:

1- is it possible to have a wireless connection and an LTE connection in the same framework?

2- my framework does not need to simulate voice calls, so do i really need the LTE?

3- if so, do i need to simulate an entire LTE framework for the mobile phone entity, or is it only going to be a simple connection between the mobile phone and the merchant, due to the installement of the LTE patch.

And, if it's not too much trouble, can you please send me some LTE simulation examples.

Thank you in advance.
and, Best Regards.

1- 2- 3- : I have no idea. It's beyond my knowledge.

Examples, etc. etc. :
You are supposed to follow the links in post #2,
.. and read all LTE threads ...

.. to also find the examples, lte-examples-0213.tar.gz

# 7 .

See post #4 : "Ns2 is for a 32bits OS."
I.e. works with a 32bits OS. Always.
A 64bits OS : Not all versions / patches will work.
A 64bits OS : Inferior validate / make test result. Always.

Conclusion : Must be the i386 version: CentOS-6.4-i386-LiveCD.iso
( Or : CentOS-6.4-i386-bin-DVD1.iso
http://ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de/pub...6-bin-DVD1.iso )
( i386 is just a name. The actual OS is i686.)

Hi...

the problem with the CentOS-6.4-i386-LiveCD.iso is that the OS will operate from the CD. And i don't know if it's possible to download NS2 while the OS operates from the CD. And even if it's possible, i think it will affect the simulation speed.

Does CentOS-6.4-i386-bin-DVD1.iso also need to operate from the CD?, because i need to install the CentOS on my Hard disk, instead of booting from the LiveCD. So, can you please tell me which CentOS-6.4 can be installed on the hard disk?

Thank you and Best Regards.

Not really. You are supposed to install the OS to disk.
Either a real partition, or to the Virtual Machine.

Live means you can run the OS from CD, if you want to.
Not that you have to do so.

HEllo again ,,,

I've installed the CentOS-6.4 from the CentOS-6.4-i386-LiveCD.iso alongside Win 7, (But i made Win 7 as the Default Boot) and CentOS finally worked. But the problem now is that the system cannot load Win 7, and it gives me the following message:
BOOTMGR is missing
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart

and i've tried everything: from rebooting from the Win7 Repair disk, until restoring to an earlier point. And nothing seems to work.
My question is: 1- is this caused by the CentOS installation?
2- how can i fix this problem?
3- and how can i uninstall CentOS?

Thank you and Best Regards.

# 11 .

I am sure your boot issues with Windows© 7 has been answered lots of times.
( I don't use Windows.)

If you cannot find a solution from Google or an 'LQ Search'
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/search.php
... then I suggest you start a new thread about Windows 7 / CentOS boot.
E.g. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/red-hat-31/

Dear Mr.Knufdl

Since I've had problems installing CentOS6.4 on another partition, I've formatted my computer and decided to install a CentOS6.4 on virtual box, in order to download NS2 for simulation.

But I wanted to ask a qestion:

1- it was mentioned before that "Ns2 is for a 32bits OS.", and since I am going to install CentOS6.4 (i386) on the virtual box. Will there be a problem if my real OS is windows 7 (64-bits)? or I should change it to (32-bits)?

Best Regards.

# 13 .

A virtual machine is a separate environment,
and doesn't care about the host OS.

I.e. there should be no issues with "CentOS 6.4 - i386".

There should be no problem running 32 bit OS on 64 bit Host. Vice versa is not true.

May be this may help in installing Ns2 Simulator.
