Simply Accounting with Linux

Hi all! :)

I'm using Knoppix, for testing purposes. I'm trying to get Simply Accounting working with it. I tried WINE and CrossOver (trial), but both stopped working after starting the install process. Can someone help me? Thanks! And please don't give me alternative programs, it's Simply I need to get working. Thanks! :)

what is the problem your having ? is it by chance an installshield problem, if so/not
explain anyways ...

It is installshield. When I use WINE, the install crashes just before it starts to install. In CrossOver, it opens a new black WINE window when I click the install link in the autorun menu, but nothing happens after that. I'm using the version of WINE that comes with Knoppix. The window stays blank.

I am also having this same problem. All I can tell is that Install Shield crashes, I wonder if copying the cd to the hd, and trying would work?

I'm trying to install Simply Accounting as well, using WINE's January 2005 version and XWINE.

Installshield is failing at one particular point, returning the error, "Cannot find file 'iKernel.EXE'".

I've found a file labelled "iKernel.ex_", which I'm assuming that Installshield should be extracting and expanding into some directory somewhere. I'm now going to look at my Windows sector and see if I can see any such file as iKernel.exe... maybe I need yet another directory in Wine's world. I suspect that Installshield is counting on there being a directory being there that isn't - yet.

(What I would do if I hadn't installed Linux in dual-boot, I shudder to think.)

And I found a file named iKernal.exe in my Windows sector: WIndows/Program Files/Common Files/Installshield/Engine/6/Intel32

Now to copy this over to WINE's version of Windows/Program Files.

Installshield still can't find iKernel.exe.

Blah. Time to head on over to WineHQ and ask silly questions there.
