Hello i am attempting to install a front-end for my giFT installation. I have have no been able to find a answer to my question. The front-end (giftui) during the configuration is looking for "libgift" I have the libraries installed in "/usr/local/lib" there are all the libraries in which it needs to configure itselfs correclty. I have no idea on what command line to use to tell "giftui" to look there for the libraries. Please if you can help me on this do so. Thanks for all the help. Cheers.

Edit /etc/ld.so.conf and add the path /usr/local/lib. Next, run 'ldconfig' to refresh the changes to /etc/ld.so.conf, and finally retry your compile.

I edited the config file and made the required changes, I then ldconfig and that worked, I then ran the configure again and I get the following
configure: error: Library requirements (libgift >= 0.10.0) not met; consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if your libraries are in a nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find them.
any further advice?

Before the compile, try using:
export CPPFLAGS="-I/usr/local/include"
export LDFLAGS="-L/usr/local/lib"
Make sure any shared library (libgift*.so) files exist in /usr/local/lib and any header (*.h) files exist in /usr/local/include.
Good luck!
