SIGSEGV on various apps

Hi all, that's my first post, so, please, be patient.
I tried to get aware of all the possible solutions to this problem, but the only effective one seems to be upgrading kde, and i hope this is not necessary. Btw, here we are:

On various kde apps, such as kedit, the koffice suite and the sysV-init editor, i get, sometimes on closing and others in starting, this error message:

kdeit app crashed and cused signal 11 (SIGSEGV).

Here's the content of the "backtrace" tab:

Well up to now, kedit crashed on closing, so it's a minor problem, but i can't use the koffice suite neither sysv-init editor.

I'm using Kde 3.1.3,
kernel 2.4.22-10mdk on a i686.

That's MDK9.2 download edition

Bye, and thanks

you may have faulty ram.

I would run a mem check.

do you how to do it?

macubo 04-01-2004 11:43 AM

Here is the result of the memtest86 3.0:

I got 1 error:

tst: 4
Pass: 0
Failing Address: 0000e3b2ea4 - 227,1 MB
Good: bfffffff
Bad: afffffff
Err-Bits: 100000
Count: 2
Chan: 1

My configuration is a P3 500 MHz, 320 MB SDR (one 64 PC100, one 128 pc100, one 128 PC133) on a Daewoo MB with intel 440bx.

Could this be the real problem?

hi folks, this is an upgrade of my question:
I switched to mdk10 CE, and the problem persists.

I thought upgrading could have solved my problem, but no way.

bye

I have just solved my error problem. My NVidia driver caused that, i reinstalled it and configured XFree86. More details : http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/.../msg06832.html
