Shutdown freeze with live CD's
 

I bought a new laptop which functions well with pclinuxos and simply mepis. However on several live CD's it will not shutdown or reboot. When it gets to the stage of ejecting the CD, press enter, it freezes. Is there a cure?

How do you know it freezes? I mean, if it just shuts down, but does not poweroff (in this case it'd be somekind of power management problem)? Can you hear the disks spin down like they should before poweroff?
