Shrinking and moving an lvm partition. (and random fdisk help)

Hello friends,

I have an lvm physical volume which I have succesfully reduced using pvresize. However, the actual partition which it is residing on is unchanged. How can I resize the partition?

Also, after I have resized it, I would like to move it to the end of the drive.

Am I asking for too much?

The best way is to download the Knoppix Live CD. Boot off this and started qtparted, which is a partitioning tool similar to partition magic. It can nondestructively resize partitions - I used it a couple of weeks ago to resize my Windows partition so I could set up a dual boot config and it worked a charm. I'm not 100% certain whether it supports LVM but I'd be surprised if it didn't.

Thanks for your reply. On the parted page it lists a few specific filesystems which it can resize.

In any case, I've given up on this endeavor. My newest issue is that in all my LVM experimenting, I've accidentally created multiple unnecessary linear extents on the same PVs. Perhaps there is a solution to make them all into single PVs?
