show mouse position

I was looking for software that shows my mouse coordinates considering top left corner of desktop as origin & horizontal x axis .
I think the x,y coordinate should be visible in tray & continumously updated regardless of which window is active .
Actually I am trying to record a part of desktop using 'x11grab' in ffmpeg . So I need coordinates .

I am unaware of any software that does exactly what you want.

But if you happen to use compiz, compiz has a plugin that will show a windows dimensions on resize.
Using that information, and positioning the window at the top left corner (ie: 0,0), you should be able to get what you want done.
